I have loved textiles and furniture for as long as I can remember; back to the days of 1970's shag carpeting, to be exact. My parents' home was a cacophony of groovy colors: my bedroom had a thick, bright green shag carpet. My sister chose, what I now consider, 'Twighlight blood" red and the rest of the house was some kind of tan. It was Palm Desert, CA, 1978. Everyone was doing multiple colors throughout their homes!
Then we moved to...Hembree House!
Hembree House is my favorite home so far, and where I've chosen to launch Hembree House Interiors. It's a classically symmetric, 44-year old brick cottage, filled with love and history. I'll be blogging about future renovations, including painting the exterior brick white, adding operable shutters and gas lanterns, a bathroom remodel and screened-in porch makeover.
Over the years, one of my FAVORITE homes to decorate was this Southern double-wrap-around porch homes right here in Roswell, Georgia. Actually, when my husband and I bought it, we added the lower porch to make it not look like it was on stilts! The photo to the left was one of 6 bedrooms I had decorated. This one was the guest retreat. The patterned reds and whites were so complimentary to each other. Hunting for the perfect iron bed (this was a Craigslist grab) and antiquing the chest of drawers bought my creativity pursuit forward and after much persuasion from friends and family, I finally decided to pursue my love of interior design and offer design services and inspiration to others. That's what you'll find from Hembree House Interiors - love of color, patterns, textures, furniture and decor - coordinated and designed to capture your home's personality.
